galaxy: A huge mass of stars, gas, and dust clouds that exists in one area of space. The Earth and the Solar System are located in the Milky Way galaxy. Scientist think there may be as many as 100 billion galaxies in the universe.

nebula: A large cloud of gas and dust in space. Nebulae provide the material from which stars form. They appear as a bright patch of light in the night sky when they give off their own light or reflect the light of nearby stars.
