Siri Carpenter is a freelance science writer and editor based in Madison, Wisc. Her work has appeared in Science NewsScientific AmericanScienceThe New York Times and many other publications. She is a former features editor for Discover magazine and currently edits regularly for bioGraphic and Cosmos, as well as for Science News for Students. She has a Ph.D. in social psychology and is a longtime part of the Science News family, having been an intern at the magazine in 1999. She is also co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Open Notebook, a nonprofit website for science journalists.
